What can I expect on
the day?

Our receptionist will give you a short form to fill out to collect some information about your history, name, contact details and date of birth.

Once your form is complete, our midwife sonographer will call you into the scan room to begin your ultrasound scan which will last approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Our scan rooms are equipped with large medical-grade LED screens to allow you to see your baby’s heartbeat at your scan.

After your scan you can select your favourite scan images from our touchscreen displays and have them printed on our professional-grade photo printer and emailed or sent via Whatsapp to allow you to immediately share with family and friends.

You will be allowed 1 guest per appointment, Children are not allowed to attend the 6.5 week Transvaginal Ultrasound scan (They are allowed attend for our 8 week transabdominal early pregnancy scan)

The sonographer was incredibly friendly, patient, and answered all of our queries. The scan itself was so satisfying, and the image quality was top-notch,we got to see the baby's face, hands, legs, and listen to the heartbeat. The place itself is very nice, lots of parking and there is an interactive screen that kids can draw on inside. The reception staff were lovely and Kevin who performed the scan was great, very professional. After four kids and private scans for each of them, this was the best experience of them all. I would say we will be back but I think four kids is enough!

FAQ

HOW MUCH IS A 6.5 WEEK TRANSVAGINAL EARLY PREGNANCY SCAN?

An Early Pregnancy Scan with UltraScan Ireland costs €125. See above for details of what is included in this price.

WHEN CAN I HAVE IT DONE?

The Early Pregnancy Scan is recommended from 6 to 14-weeks gestation.

If clients present to us earlier than the recommended 6.5 weeks gestation they will require a repeat ultrasound appointment at a cost of 50% of original scan price.

HOW IS IT DONE?

Our highly-trained midwife sonographer will use ultrasound equipment and a scanning device that is placed internally. Sound waves are produced by the equipment, then the software translates these sound waves into an image.

WHAT IF I AM LATE FOR MY SCAN?

Clients should try to arrive 5 minutes before appointments to fill out forms. We are extremely busy and unfortunately, if someone misses their allotted time we will not be able to see them and you will have to rebook a new appointment.

WHAT CAN BE SEEN DURING AN EARLY PREGNANCY SCAN?

At 6.5 weeks gestational age we can detect the baby’s heartbeat through a trans-vaginal examination. We can get a 2-dimensional picture of the baby at this stage. 3D ultrasound imaging is not achievable at this stage of pregnancy because the baby is not developed enough yet for the 3D scan to be effective.
